Granite Countertops Best In Countertops Test
Granite Countertops Best In Consumer Reports Test
Consumer Reports has completed their countertop tests and have concluded that not all countertops are
what they are cracked up to be. Granite was the only countertop material to pass their extensive testing using staining, pounding, scratching and super hot pots
and pans. Countertop Ratings (available to subscribers) included granite, quartz, bamboo, recycled glass, and soapstone.
Of course you have to subscribe to read all about the
testing but they have given us a few choice tidbits of information.
Bamboo is the worst-performing countertop material
ever tested and is the lowest-scoring product in this entire issue.
Granite and Quartz, like SileStone CaesarStone, were
the only materials that passed with high marks.
Soapstone wasn't as durable as granite, but it did better than limestone and marble, but
requires constant applications of mineral oil to look good.
Laminate is practical and pretty, and it resisted stains, heat, and impact almost as well
as much more expensive materials.
Recycled Glass counters was very good in all areas except hot pots and pans. It
cracked when 400 degree pots were set directly on it and left for a period of time.
Bottom line is that you can pay for the full report or just choose granite countertops or
quartz countertop and you will have almost no worries.
